The Chair of Statistics and Quantitative Methods of Business and Economics offers a variety of courses that provide students with in-depth knowledge of statistical methods and their practical application.
In addition to basic courses on descriptive statistics and probability theory as well as inductive and multivariate statistics, the courses offered include the course Data Science Tools, in which students learn about tools for data management, pre-processing and visualization in data science.
The chair also offers the courses Data Science Methods and Predictive Analytics, in which students learn about and apply methods of statistical and machine learning as well as statistical, data-based forecasting on a conceptual and theoretical basis. The courses usually include tutorials with modern programming languages such as Python or R as well as the implementation and discussion of methods on real or realistic data sets.
In the Statistical Forecasting Methods course, students acquire an understanding of advanced, important statistical models and methods and the application of corresponding software used in areas such as marketing, logistics and production.
